An Honest, Clear Voice In SSI/SSDI Care

What Social Security Benefits Are Available?

The Social Security Administration pays benefits through two separate and distinct programs — the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. If you are disabled, you may be eligible to receive benefits under one — or both — of these programs.

At my law firm, The Law Center for Social Security Disability, I practice exclusively in the area of Social Security law and focus all my effort on helping disabled people in the Oklahoma City area get the benefits to which they are entitled. My name is attorney Gary Jones, and for over 30 years, me and my dedicated staff have made life better for thousands of disabled individuals throughout our community.

Which Benefits Do You Qualify For?

Although the SSDI and SSI programs are different in many ways, only people who have a qualified disability or satisfy certain medical criteria qualify for benefits under either program.

When you apply for either program, the SSA will review your medical and financial history and determine whether you satisfy their narrow definition of “disabled.”

What Benefits Might You Receive?

If you qualify for SSD benefits, your monthly payments will be calculated based on your income, the number of years you worked, your age and your projected date of retirement. On average, SSD pays about 40 percent of a person’s pre-retirement income.

The monthly SSI payment is currently based on the federal rate of $733. However, it can be more or less depending on your income and whether you are eligible for an SSI supplement. You may also be eligible to receive past due benefits, Medicaid benefits or food stamps.
